"Saimin"

by Hamasaki Hiroaki

---------------
This film is similar to the film "CURE". The subject of both film is the serial suicidal case by the evil hypnotist. Of course, the creaters of this film understood this similarity. Also they tried to compete with "CURE", for example, they let Mr. Denden who played the role of a suicide in "CURE" play the role of a suicide in this film too.
This film is based on the novel. This author mr. Matsuoka Keisuke is a psychotherapist. So his novel isn't a horror novel, but a social ratiocinative story. But the director Mr. Ochiai Nobuyuki (director of "Parasite Eve") desiced to break the rationality of the original story and reconstract it to unlookedfor and unique horror, and he succeeded!
The plot is: The mysterious suicidal cases were happened. Some people suddenly said "Green ape" and killed themselves. These suicidal ways are various, for example, a young woman ran more than her ability and her legs were broken and her bone crashed through her knee. Sakurai an old investigator asked Saga a young psychologist who knew well of hypnotism to cooperate with him. They suspected a doubtful hypnotism magician named Jissouji and his assistant girl named Yuka. Saga knew that Yuka has plural personarities and she needed treating. But Jissouji didn't agree with Saga on a plan. The police officer suspected Yuka too. And they queried Yuka, Saga and Sakurai objected against it though. A psychiartist tried to test Yuka's sanity. Just then, Yuka cried the word "Green ape" and her unknown and uncanny personality appeared in the presence of the investigators. This Yuka's character seemed scarcely human. While they lost their sences in a few minutes,Yuka vanished. They knew they were subjected to hypnotical suggestion by Yuka. Of course, Saga and Sakurai either. And so, they killed themselves one after another...
I think this film is fear enough, "Parasite Eve" isn't though. If you are familiar with Alfred Hitchcock's films, you can discover the reference to his films.
