The basic story is about 6 people, 3 men and 3 women, who go out to the country to do an erotic photo shoot. After finishing up their work, the photographer, his model-girlfriend, make-up gal, producer and the other couple party in their cabin. However outside, a mysterious figure comes out of the forest and starts to kill them, one by one. These bludgeings, impalings and decapitations are interrupted by sex scenes--lots of them! (Some scenes are "fogged" by Japanese censors, while others are not. It's interesting to see what the censors have determined is and is not viewable) In one scene, the photographer demonstrates his professional wresting skills with his girlfriend in front of the others by body slamming her to the floor, putting her into a pile-driver and then into an Indian leg lock! Talk about true love!
After most of the cast is done away with, the surviving girl is raped by the mutant killer. The film's final scene is of her standing on a cliff, very pregnant. But many questions are left unanswered: where did the killer come from? Who or what was he? Was this a dream or only a flashback? And how could these people have sex so much? Director GAIRA interjects some interesting montages, ala Eisenstein. For instance, just as the killer is about to hit one character with a sledge hammer, you see rapid scenes of gushing water mains, a hammer hitting a piece of raw meat, flashes of lightening..and then the gory climax. He does this with every scene of extreme intensity. |
