One morning, Kimie Tadokoro, an ordinary housewife, is watching TV show in her usual way. Then, the accidents happens. TV caster confusedly tells the special news that giant monster strikes the Tokyo Bay. Kimie is astonished, but this news isn't realistic for her. Because she lives in Fukui-ken where is far from Tokyo. Kimei's neighbors either. For example, an old man named Hikojiro Osawa is absorbed in writing his autobiography. Or a woman named Ryoko Sakurazawa insists that God sent the giant monster --she calls it Behemoth at her own discretion-- to this world, and she tries to canbass young people for her cult religion. etc... And then, Another giant monster hits the northern part of Kyushu, Both giant monsters go towards Fukui-ken...
I wonder if this director and writer is so nasty. Because they give us the impression that this film is comedy about funny people of Fukui-ken halfway, last of all they show us the ironical tragedy. Of course, they are very clever ti turn out favorable the low-budget situation. |
